EUROGLACES 2024: Incom LEONE hosts the ice cream industry summit
This year, our company had the honor of being the official host of the General Assembly of the European Ice Cream Industry Association (EUROGLACES).
EUROGLACES represents the ice cream industry in Europe and promotes its richness and diversity in close cooperation with all its members. As an active, committed, and responsible stakeholder in European discussions, EUROGLACES aims to create an optimal regulatory environment for all companies in the European ice cream industry, regardless of their size. This ensures that they can effectively manage the specific challenges of the industry and advocate for the sector’s interests.
The members of EUROGLACES include national or regional ice cream associations and individual ice cream companies based in European countries. In total, EUROGLACES represents approximately 70 ice cream companies throughout Europe, most of which are small or medium-sized enterprises.
The three-day general meeting held at the Grand Hotel Plaza in Ljubljana was attended by delegates from Belgium, France, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Hungary, Macedonia, Great Britain, Norway, the Netherlands, and Italy, in addition to representatives from Slovenia. Competing companies, including Incom, Unilever, Froneri, Ysco, Eisbaer, Gelato d’Italia, and Cermat, all gathered in one place.
The meeting addressed the issue of rising raw material prices, with a particular focus on the procurement challenges and repeated price increases of cocoa, which has reportedly risen by as much as 67 percent this year, according to Nielsen research. Discussions also covered the nutritional table, with efforts aimed at achieving the highest quality raw materials available. Participants explored sales trends in various markets and retail chains, as well as innovations such as the use of artificial intelligence in production.
We proudly shared the story of LEONE – The Journey from Ice Cream to Chocolate. Since 1991, our company has transformed from a small garage operation into the largest Slovenian producer of ice cream and chocolate, and we are now present in markets across Europe, Asia, and America.
